    Hi All!

I'd like to share with you another success from RAF Lakenheath. This team has also taken on the challenge of revamping our website. I'd like to share the following bulleted ideas that we have implemented. Our new website will lauch end of October and we're excited about the changes coming!

    Methods:
Comment cards, focus groups on social media, focus groups on website use.

    Lessons Learned:

    - "Thoughtful content" is not just an industry buzzword. Websites should have more than just hours of operation and graphics. Our aim is to bring thoughtful content and important information to our clients. To do this we visited with every facility manager to understand their communication vision and to bring it to the web.

    - Wing PA is AWESOME! They are there to help and one of their AFI's is to partner with marketing to help tell the story and archive the stories of all base activities. We parntnered with them to make an introductory "Welcome to the Good Life" video on our new site: www.48forcesupport.com. Use these folks- they rock!

    - Wing PA also loaned us their camera equipment to video the inside of our facilities to create virtual tours for our webpages. Now you'll be able to see the inside of Rugby's or step out on the golf course all before you actually get to Lakenheath! We patterened this concept after the 360 tours that realtors use to show houses- we thought, why not show off our awesome facilities!

    - Our customers want menus- so we're giving it to them! Put all your menus and publications on your site! All of our magazine and publications will be downloadable on the web now.

    - Our customers want the option of online reservations for golf tee times and the capability to do so with other appropriate acitivies, so we're partnering with our golf team and other facilities to see where we can do this online.

    - Social media is here! Facebook and Twitter ARE coming to RAF Lakenheath! Yippee! This is a great marketing tool that we recommend researching.

    - Marketing your site. We will have an intense marketing push at the time our site goes live. We learned that a lot of folks aren't savvy to the fact that we have a webiste.

    - We've also implemented web analytics to tell us how many hits we're getting and where folks are visiting on our site.

    - HRO- we benchmarked LukeAFB. I highly recommend checking out their HRO site- ours was severly under represented on our current site- so we've patterend ourselves after Luke.

    - Color is important to folks- so we moved away from drab grey and opted for a vibrant green. It's a fact that cool colors are more appealing to most folks.

You can view the changes on our new site as they develop- our "go live" is end of October.

I hope some of our lessons learned will help any of you embarking on a similar project.

Always happy to talk marketing with anyone interested, so please feel free to drop a line anytime.

    All the best,
    Kris-Anna Mack
